Watching this see how it goes hopefully not too bad.Well I will let you know the outcome of the RAC route as it develops, have made the important phonecall this morning and waiting to hear back
I 'lost' my key two weeks ago .. still waiting for new one to arrive at the Stealers. Meanwhile I have a mobile key guy on standby to sync it ... but this is only one part of yet another problem solving P38 exercise!
The infamous immobiliser!!
My key fob only worked after sussing out a few tricks, and if these failed, and I was aware of a gathering crowd watching me, I would manually put in the key code and zoom off in a V8 roar Ha!
But, then nothing.
No response from key fob, despite the tricks and not accepting the key code.. no flashing lights as i turned the key etc
I had my 'spare' key fob checked over, new batteries etc - nothing.
I moved the rangie as I thought a rf might be interfering with the fob/immobiliser- and tbh, I thought I'd cracked it - nope!
Looking to getting the micro switch changed ( gonna message Marty!) But that is something beyond me doing myself - anyone near pembroke?
But yh, back to they keys.
Phone stealer, give reg, and they order in.
It took a week for the stealer near me to suss they had to order one in .. hopefully yours won't be so completely inept!
Thanks Grrrrr .. I'll keep that info for a later date. Very useful. At some point in the future I'll be in this situation again, no doubtSometimes you need to blip the car open with a working fob or clear the RF memory using diag (like Nanocom) first. Make sure no messages on dash asking for EKA. To sync, stick key in lock, press fob to unlock and turn key to unlock. Press fob to lock and then turn key to lock. Repeat a few times until it does it on the button. RF receiver needs to be plugged in (just in case someone unplugged the RF aerial).
Basically they have been in contact with main stealer and is a 2 week up 6 month wait for a key and are trying other avenues to see if there is any quicker way when I chased them up last thing today, so I'm presumably going to hear off them at some stage tomorrow or fingers crossed anywayThanks Grrrrr .. But, you know what, I went up to Rangie earlier and did the key code and it FIRED up!! Woohoo! Went for an adrenalin drive, which was much needed, and parked Rangie back up opposite the caravan that I thought was causing the problem and now it won't start again Haha.. no, I parked it well away from this caravan and locked with functioning fob. I was guessing the motion sensors on this caravan were interfering with the fob/immobiliser, but the reaction to my theory here was ? Lol
But ..
Tomorrow's a other day and another P38 issue
Nanocom is on the wish list ...
Lastly, sorry for hijacking this thread. What happened with the RAC?
Ooo .. covering their backs a bit there with the 6 months! I'll let you know when I get mine. It should theoretically be the same timeline. I was a bit sceptical about getting it within a week because of Brexit and covid excuses and politics, but I'll keep you posted.Basically they have been in contact with main stealer and is a 2 week up 6 month wait for a key and are trying other avenues to see if there is any quicker way when I chased them up last thing today, so I'm presumably going to hear off them at some stage tomorrow or fingers crossed anyway

I ordered mine last Wednesday and the stealer said they were told it would be delivered within the week ...
We shall see !
As a side note: I am only paying for mine once it arrives, but they took my card details before they ordered it
Probably telling everyone he's been pinged by an app that tells him he's got to self isolate, ergo a nice long paid stretch of down time Haha.. so that's why it could be upto 6 months lolI ordered my key on Friday night and it was there Monday lunchtime. That was pre-Brexit and pandemic though. Allegedly there's only 1 guy at Huff who does the keys so it depends on what he is up to.
I can't either .. but the most unsuspecting things can interfere with it. I've done the ole parked up in straight line of a phone mast a few times with my older Rangies. You see a huge mast, and visually get why your not going anywhere, then towed around the corner and jobs a good un. Everything works. I did think tho, post 97 this issue was cleared with the P38s. But, there's a lorra waves out there now!I cannot remember what frequency the fob is on, possibly 433MHz. Anything on the same frequency can scramble the original RF receiver.
Well keys are on order or should be fingers crossed, had to take proof of ownership etc to my local mainstealer so in theory is just a waiting game with lr now, and tbh I'm not too sure what they would do, I think it would depend on circumstances as I still had my key, but originally they was going to get a auto locksmiths out ( but I think they couldn't find anyone brave enough) as they rang me back and said they couldn't get hold of one but if you had lost your keys i would assume that it would be recovered, all depends on what cover etc you have, I believe they offer a small hatch for a short period of time but not suitable for me so I've just done the Eka route so I can still plod about@Bern768 hows it going any closer to getting keys. What happens if you need a car do they offer a hire as part of service. What would happen say you been out on a walk in lakes lost keys on side of road 2 hrs from home would they just lift it on a truck and drive you home.
You can get your eka code from dealers free of charge with proof of ownershipSo how did you claim to be locked out if you still had the key was it I’ve lost a key jobbie. I don’t even know my eka code suppose I best find that as well.
Better safe than stuckAhhhh be looking into that then because no doubt I will need it.
