What a cūnts trick changing only the outside pads... Endangering lives?
Keep up the good work Saint.
Try a leaf blower maybe?:p
I used a 'ahem' trick once, I was selling a car without PS so I inflated the tyres to about 50psi.

Drives nice said the buyer, "doesn't it" I replied, and in your colour too!!

I've always copper-slipped the backs of the new pads but I've now heard this is considered a mistake and they should be left well alone. I did my last lot out of habit but I'd be interested in any intel on any testing into it.

i've never copper slipped pads and wouldnt,, i wouldnt trust the spread of the slip under heat build up. The P38 padsshould have the retaining spring in them to prevent pad vibration and the way the caliper mounts to the carrier, the pads will fall out once the caliper is undone from the carrier. i do make sure the guide pins are lubed. i had a split bellows on one of mine and that pin was corroded in. took some heat to free it and then cleaned the bore out with a 6mm HSS. i also wire brush off the pad dust that sets onto the caliper carrier. with it all cleaned out, there should be no need for slip to get things together.

just my 2 cents worth
