Any body got any ideas of the cost of discs and pads all round and labour ??

Discs and pads all round are about £70. Get new sliders too. Oh, and new disc holding screws. Easy enough job. if Saint didn't do a How To in the Technical Section it is the same as the start of my CV boot How To.

You'll need new caliper bolts too. They're 12 point IIRC and may need some Plusgas / heat to loosen them.
just to add on the bolts ....I used to be a cold forger....in my socket set I seem to have 7 of everything imperial and metric .I used the principal of a big hammer and cold forging to socket to the bolt ....I have never not been able to undo one via this method then I replace the bolts ...basicly I am doing the work for other ppl I know I charge ridiculously cheep on my behalf an wondered what a fair price would be to do all the work .all bolts are replaced lock tighted or greased depending on aplication I really try to be as perfect as possable so I certainly DO NOT SKIMP ON WORK ... cheers for all help guys ...

Werrrlll, a reasonable decent independent with yard costs, heating, lighting etc down here would be about £50/hour. An expensive independent about £80 per hour and then a specialist maybe £100. Main dealer heaven knows. I wouldn't trust cheap unless I knew the man. I know there are a few guys who have retired and work as mobile or from their houses and look after their old customers for very little. It would be rude to ask how little though.

I am guessing the book time for the job is probably 2 hours? Someone on here may have the book? So £100 labour + parts. I'm including VAT but if you'r VAT registered you'd have to reverse engineer that in.

And then there's cash in hand which is always nice.

I'd be watching you like a hawk. :)

If I could afford to doddle round the countryside fixing stiles and cutting back fallen trees I would do so for the cost of parts and fuel. At the moment I cannot but I dream of the day I can do so. If you're happy and the customer is happy then everyone's a winner. What anyone else charges / feels / does is up to them.

Someone on here was quoted 4 hour's @ £150+ ph to change one rear brake caliper and a set of rear pad's by a Main Stealer.

WTF were they doing? Electroplating and polishing? Even with the rusted bolts and that damn disc screw that had corroded itself in it didn't take me that long ... and that was with posting up here asking for suggestions to get the sod off.
