That would stop it dead and not start ,but check other avenues firstMight have snapped a timing chain on the pump,,,or it has has sheared a woodrif key and the pulleys not turning on the fip...
You could try a squirt of brake cleaner into the air filter box. If it runs temporarily then you know it's not a timing issue. Just be careful as it is a dry fuel that'll clack the crap out of the engine briefly. If it won't come to life with the brake cleaner then a timing issue could be at hand!!
It has nowt to do with the fip unfortunately, it just proves the timing chains haven't let go. If the pump has failed it'll need pulling out and then sent off to a specialist to check its functionality.
What mileage is on the car?
That may not mean it's OK.
Think if i mind right crank chain turns fip sprocket ,which is connected to the rear chain going to camshaft ,if this middle sprocket has lost grip with pump shaft it will run on gas but the pump wont be pumping at any or ,,correct time,,,Thats if the pump sprocket is a one piece supporting both chains....
