Hello people

I am wondering if there is somebody on this site who could point me in the right direction as regards glow plugs. My 2.5 BMW diesel engine had new glow plugs fitted just over a year ago and once again I am having starting problems. I need to turn the ignition over for about 10 seconds before the engine starts, this is the type of problem I was having before I changed the glow plugs. How long should the glow plugs last? Can anybody recommend a reliable type of glow plugs that will not need replacing once a year?

Thank you very much

Lots of posts on here about poor quality glow plugs. Beru, Delphi, NGK or Bosch are good. Unless you do a lot of cold starts/short runs, a set of good quality glow plugs will last up to 100K miles, mine are on 107K and work well:)

It does about 5 to 6 K a year when it's working properly, it will be more this year as we have done the south of France, Uk and now the wife is off to Paris in it:eek: Why am I nervous:confused: Not her driving for sure:)
You will be on call then. My broker in the Canary Islands has been dumped by the company I was insured with. Guess what, 100 euro cheaper this year inc recovery and hire car for 45 days. Result. Will be asking why I wasn't insured with them in the first place:D
