p38 eas jumping

Its still doing it....front nearside airbag with a foot of hose to a commercial manual pnumatic valve, pressure fine, 65 to 70 psi, stays up for days......as do the other 3 bags.

On approach to left hand bend, the bonnet is level, Go round a left hand bend, centrifugal force etc, then straighten up, the front nearside of the bonnet is a lot higher. Until she goes round a right hand bend then the bonnet sits lower on the right, by a lot. Then high on next left bend

Bags look OK, new shocks have not solved problem.
Do airbags have a memory that would support that weight or maybe a temporary seizing bush??? All looks OK.

Anyone experienced this, or more importantly, fixed it.
Its driving me unevenly round the bend.

It maybe an idea to repair the EAS and return it to proper operation.

So all corners are inflated to the same level? High? Low? Medium. Or pressure?
...and there's no feedback of any kind.....

The height sensors provide the feed back. Pressure required to get to the commanded height will vary according to how much junk you put in the boot or how big your wife's butt is:rolleyes:

Sounds like something has seized up big time. Airbags no more have memory than do tyres.

Under normal circumstances, yes, but in this case, who knows? I'm trying to understand whether the present disconnected system has the same *pressure* or the same *height* at each corner

This leaping up and down and assymetric weird-**** cornering does point to something a bit stuck, doesn't it?

If you inflate the system manually, it's matter of adjusting the pressure to get the car level at the required height. Pressure will vary a bit for things like a full fuel tank which is offset to one side etc but around 60psi for normal height from memory.
 
Its a weird one alright, I will get to the bottom of it.
I have tried All four corners set at 33 inches from road to arch on level ground, it still did it,
I have also tried 60 psi all round, fault remains.
Valve block is now refurbished and new height sensors fitted ready to reconnect but not until I solve this.
I have ordered new rear shocks as i noticed the offside one has scrape marks, if sticking, this would have a direct effect on the front nearside level, thus causing the eas to throw a wobbly.
This motor keeps me on my toes. She requested a new gear selector switch today.

I would imagine as you go round the corner the centre of gravity shifts and the car dips. One dipped the weight transfer keeps her down.

I took several EAS traces at one stage. It is constantly adjusting as you brake / accelerate / turn. You have none of that. I don't think you're supposed to go over 35 mph with manually inflated bags. It is just supposed to get you home.

The 35 mph limit is when it's on the bump stops due to a fault. With the springs manually inflated to the correct ride height, it's not so different from being on coils.

Pretty certain the emergency EAS instructions that came with my car sai 35 mph max but they're probably covering their arses.

Not sure about the springs comparison. More like trying to surf on a lilo, I'd have thought!

They do, when it has dropped to the bump stops due to a hard fault. You may still have the message if you manually inflate the bags but you don't have to obey:rolleyes:
