Hi
Went to my car p38 1997 4.0se Range Rover Friday evening to try and remove Eas fault and had not problems connecting and getting good idle.

Then went out Saturday afternoon and connected and couldn't get any comms, checked comm port and driver and everything seemed right....... so why doesn't it work.

Tried to load photos of my EAS to show you all but struggle with doing even that......I'm great with spanners but crap with laptops.....:):)

Hi
I have checked the inline plug connection behind the side panel and the socket underneath which lead plugs into.... and all looks well, tried both comm's 6 and 8 same problem.
I will check fuse or do you mean relay.......I have swapped the EAS relay with another one....made no difference.
Thanks everyone for replies
Colin

Seem to remember if the delay timer relay has been replaced with a standard automotive relay then that will kill comms? By inference if it is toast then that would also kill it.

Have you tried the diag on a known good car?

Hi
Is the Delay Relay the one under the seat, I will check fuses later tonight.
No I haven't tried my diag on any other car.
I also got another lead (serial to USB) from work, this hasn't made any difference, tried it today.
I'm getting FF,1 FF,1 in Rx but only PP appears in Tx.
Cheers
Colin

Hi
I have looked at all the fuses and everything is fine, I also swapped the delay relay with one from another Range Rover made no difference.
I also decided to try my Eas lead on my other Range Rover and Im getting same problem no IDLE.
so its got to be my lead.....right?
I did a continuity test on the lead......and only got readings on four pins would this be right.....how many wires/ pins are used used don't wiring diagram

Did you put the driver for the USB to serial adaptor into your laptop BEFORE you connected to car. The generic Windows drivers usually do not work.

Hi
When I have used this EAS lead before....I have just plugged in played never had anything to do with drivers. whilst having this problem I have followed these instruction........Go into Device Manager screen (Control Panel>System>Device Manager) and check which port the USB adapter has been assigned to and check that the drivers from the CD are assigned to it. Then ensure that the same COM port is selected in the EAS unlock program.

How do I check that the drivers from the CD are assigned to it, don't really know what this means and never had to this before when working correctly?
I have double clicked on the COM PORT which brings up a window stating 'this device is working properly

Hi
Been on RSW Solutions website and in the list of FAQ is show my problem receiving PP in Rx is down to comm's problem, well I've gone into Device Manger seen which comms port and selected the same port before intialising.:(
Also been informed that continuity test of the OBD lead isn't good enough test to prove a good lead, its a bit more complicated at the ODB end.
So can anyone recommend a supplier of a new lead / EAS package.
