p38 diesel wont start

I have fitted a fip to my rangerover as was told this was the fault (turns over but wont start and no warnings on dash ) once i fitted the pump i also changed the stop sollinoid but it still was doing the same so after looking every were for some one to come out and plug it it found a man who came and put autologic on it found ecu had wrong code ao put backto right code same as becm was saying 1790 so after trying to bleed up again im now getting fuel to injector leak of pipes but non yo injectors is there something im missing or forgetting about iv replaced all leak off pipe this afternoon with new ones and also replaced some vac pipes as looked pitted and brittle but still same although if i giver it some easy start it does try but due to lack of fuel cutts stright out help please
 
Is fuel being pumped up to the filter by the in tank pump if you look in the technical advice section wammers has put on how to check the pump.
are there bubbles of air in the clear plastic pipe to the FIP from the filter?.
Is the pump timed correctly?
are the glow plugs working?
 
Yes the fuel is upto the pump and the glowplugs are working and also have been renewed just in case and how do you checj the timing on the pumps its a 2001 dhse m51 bmw engine
 
Iv just gad a look ut im thinking of just selling the car now its being more hassle then its worth and i have next to no services around me that deal with the car

You need a good mechanic with a Nonocom. Told you it was out of sync. You should not play with things you don't understand. ;);)
 
You need to look at the BECM with Nanocom and see if it has glitched and changed late EDC which yours is, to early EDC. If it has it won't run. Something has happened to make is lose sync. Maybe allowing battery to go flat whilst alarm is on. That can cause BECM to swap a few things about. Needs a Nanocom on it worked by someone who knows what they are doing before you lose all hope.
 
[GALLERY=][/GALLERY]Iv had a resync done to the becm and the ecu but just seen that my woodruff key has snapped on the pump side spinning inside the sprocket so would never have worked :( but its also done slight damage to the sprocket so may have to modify or renew sprocket
 
So the pump was not aligned when you fitted it and the bolt had not tightened up properly or had the pump seized up?

What you basically mean is you didn't get the woodruff key properly aligned and engaged in sprocket slot when you changed the pump. Engine should be at TDC number one firing when pump is changed, key way in sprocket uppermost, with woodruff key tapped slightly down at nose where it enters slot in sprocket to ensue engagement. All this because you did not listen when told it was out of sync.
 
The replacement pump has seized up solid cousiing it to strip :( posibly needing a new sprocket now but going to try and clean it and file it down a touch and fit a larger woodruff key and hope it works
 
And no it was all fitted fine and i had already fitted then pump before i came onto this for advise and all was okay woodruff key position correct by RAVE and all looked well when replacing i had pleanty of time putting scania engine back together with no problems so im pritty confident it was a fault lay with the woodruff key just being week

Even if the pump seized solid, something else would more likely give before a properly fitted pump drive sprocket. You may need to check the bottom chain and crank sprocket. Bit of a disaster really when you come to think only thing wrong was car was out of sync. You need to take note of who you listen to on here and maybe elsewhere.

Fitted reconed pump after going to my local diesel auto specialist and found one pump seized solid and other one leaking so would not build up pressure and started straight up no bleeding or anything over the moon

Result then. But doubt to no bleeding at all bit.;);)

Al i did was leave the ignition on whilst firring manifold back on turned it over and must have only done 3 revolutions then fired up
