Hi all.

I have a problem with my p38 diesel (manual) not starting. It was running fine Tuesday evening, but Weds morning....nothing. It turns over fine, but will not fire. The main problem seems to be no diesel reaching the fuel filter, although having drawn fuel manually through from the tank, through the filter and up to the injectors I know there is no blockages. Sods law I have only just filled it with diesel and to reach the in tank pump I know you have to drain and lower the tank.

Mr AA man is also stumped. He checked all the relays and electrical side of things bar the in tank pump cos he wasn't allowed by his supervisors to lower the tank to reach the wires to this pump. Couldn't find any problems there either. I can't find where the harness from the top if this pump goes either to tap into the wire to see if there is a feed to it.

Any help/suggestions gratefully received before I have to get the big hammer out.

Thanks in anticipation guys

It does sound like your fuel pump if no fuel is reaching the filter. Guess you have fully checked your engine fusebox for any signs of corrosion and also swapped the fuel pump relay over with another yellow one??

Do you have RAVE?? You can look up the wiring diagram for the pump in the ETM part of it. The power feed to the pump runs through the inertia switch, might be worth checking the plug for that and associated wiring. I guess you will find the in-tank pump is at fault though.

I take it there is no fuel coming into the clear line leading into the FIP??

Thanks for the response. I do now have the Rave CD. Will follow your advise and check. I'll let you know how I get on

At last, a solution. Having dropped the tank and then removed the pump from said tank, there was a stone!!! and lots and lots of gunky residue inside the swirl pot which I am attributing to the diesel not reaching the filter. Having cleaned the swirl pot/ pump & filter and checked it all out of the tank I now have fuel being pumped merrily up to the fuel filter. For good measure I replaced the wires to the pump/sender just in case there was a break somewhere along the line which was causing the pump to not work. BUT..... now I have another problem. The battery has gone flat. After recharging it n the bench and replacing it in the car, the keyfob will not operate the alarm. After attempting the EKA process 3 times (and I know I'm doing it right cos I've had to use this method to start it before) I now have KEYCODE LOCKOUT on the dash display. Waited the obligatory half hour. Tried it again. Same message. And when the key is in the ignition the LED on the keyfob flashes like a good 'un! Any suggestions anyone??

Just been and tried that. Still nothing. I did get a clunk from the central locking when I opened the door with the key but a clunk is all it was. The rear doors now won't open at all even when you lift the latch from the inside. Beginning to think the BECM has "lost" its code. Is that a possibility??
