Hi, Iv'e got a P38 bmw diesel and the air condenser has gone, i've got a new one, but does the old one come out from the front with just the top plate and grill removed or have i got to strip most of the front end down?
Cheers, newby $tumpy:confused:

Once you've got the slam plate and the grille off you'll see that the rest is simply a game of hunt the bolts. Fans off, condensor out.

If you've got the time, and you're so close, why not whip the rad out and flush it whilst you're there, it's only another couple of bolts and a couple of hoses.

Well in amongst these fleets of noisy V8s us sensible oil burners have got to stick together.

I know people look at me weird when I tell them it's a diesel. I love it, it's been chipped and drives really nice with it on, crisp and smooth and can turn enough pace to put a smile on your face lol :) the straight 6 is the nicest sounding diesel i've ever heard and it's practically bullet proof. I never knew diesels could sound so nice!!

All done :) whipped the old air condenser out. it had gone on the top left hand corner, common problem, apparently the black sponge under the slam panel holds moisture like a tight sponge and it sits directly on top of the air condenser for a cushion efect and rots the damn thing, so i've coated it with grease to prevent the new one going the same way!! It held over 150 psi for a good half hour, so re gassed and getting 3 deg C at the center vents!! Happy days :) :)
