P38 Air Suspension Problem

After running around this morning the suspension suddenly played up on my 1996 P38. As the passenger got out I noticed the suspension lights showing trying to raise. It drove home despite being down and 20 minutes later all the four lights started flashing followed by EAS warning and the lights going to all four lit up.

I have changed the four bags over the last couple of years. How do I check the compressor?

Dead easy, look in the technical section for wammers how to. it may not be your compressor but it is easy to test and to fix

Printed out that valuable info and set to work. Compressor continuety ok but does not run.
Disconnected the power plug and fired it up from a battery charger using the postive and negative but avoiding the orange. Compressor runs but does not sound healthy or to put it another way sounds rough. There is no power coming from the vehicle side of the plug but when connected to battery charger I can hear relay clicking.

Both the fuses are OK.

So I imagine the compressor might need some new seals but why does it not run when the vehicle runs?

The fault seemed to appear when the front left passenger door was opened or am I just imagine it is linked to that?

What am I missing?

Read down the list for thermal switch check. The compressor relay is pulled by the ECU when thermal switch is sound and low pressure is detected by pressure switch.

Kurt has been in touch.

I don't really want to throw money at this P38 as it is coming up to MOT in April and I am away until then.Owned it for ten years and put 150k on the clock for £4.5 when I bought it in 2006. It appears to me the compressor has failed and triggered some sort of low pressure signal to the electronics? No suck from the inlet when the filter is removed and no power to the plug side so something has clicked out.The kit and renovation appears quite simple but how about resetting the system to get the power back to the plug. Another light, TP?, has lit up on the panel?
