Just an update! I have had robert marshall on the phone today regarding the work done to my range rover. I must say he seemed a very nice intelligent man. He apologised for the service i had been given and will come back to me shortly with an answer as to what they are prepared to do about this. I will update soon with his responce.

DAVID

As of yesterday 11/07/08 marshall landrover peterborough have said they are prepared to do nothing with regard to the misdiagnoses and poor service they gave me on this rangerover. They stated they have done nothing wrong and have followed procedure correctly! So obviously replacing parts that are working correctly as they don't know what they are doing is ok these days??? They offered £100 loyalty card which i think is disgusting as i would have to use it in their garage and it would not even cover 1 hours labour. I will seek advice from trading standards this week and see if it is worth taking them to county court over the matter.

Hello, were you ever able to resolve this? What was the issue? Someone I know has the same issue...

Could you not of locked the suspension in position when it was at fault . With the button or did it override that as well ?

Just a quick update it was the driver pack shorted out due to the pollen filter leaking on the wiring in the passenger footwell, land rover were supposed to have sealed it properly in an earlier service, typical bad work from a useless company!

Driver pack is a long way from the passenger footwell:confused:

The wiring in the passenger foot well is the interface ECU to selector switch, nothing at all to do with driver pack. Spurious signals due to contamination on the connectors ECU to selector switch would certainly give you your problem the driver pack won't.

Surely must be a new record for an update, over 6 years:eek:
Updated on here cos he has another problem he wants help with, so I can only guess when that too gets sorted he won't update that thread until he has another issue he would like some advice on!!

Have noticed that this a trend with many members on here...they ask for help to which we offer, then they disappear into the ether and you never know if they have had success or not (as by only posting the solutions/resolve/result on the forum will anyone gain any useful help from it!) and then a billion years later they all of a sudden pop up again when the next thing goes pop...

You are right but in the years since the last post I have built two show cars so have been rather busy on other forums, vauxhall ones. Unfortunately I have left the range rover and don't nothing much with it, my mums been driving it. We just had some work done and I'm now getting some paintwork sorted and other bits fixed. I'm sorry if you don't like the way this is, maybe I should had just left the thread alone but when I did finally check it I saw people asking if this was ever fixed. I thought the thread was quiet interesting at the time as nobody else seemed to have to same problem, a dangerous one at that! This is why I updated it. The explanation of the fault is what I was told, I'm not a mechanic so that's all I know, driver pack was definitely fried as I still have it here and you see it's cooked itself. The wiring in the passenger left side footwell was all soaked and so I just took what they said as the truth!

Thanks for the update. Time is always tight, it seems. It is good to know what happened in case someone else has the same symptoms. Pictures would be good too!

Cheers,

J
