Hi Fellow Land Owners,

I suspect you may have had a giggle at the topic as its sooooo common on these :) I could do with some advice on this if no one minds please :)

OK, so I have electrical niggles which is to be kind of expected, however these are all on the nearside/passenger side of the P38.

Heated seat blows the fuse

Electric Windows sometimes work but not when its damp, front and rear

The heating doesn't work on the passenger side but does on the drivers. - There is a picture of a book in the display of the control unit of which people on here have kindly suggested its the Hevac pump, I was wondering if there was a way to refurbish this myself rather than buying another one please?

I am wondering based from this whether either:

1. The Hevac pump issue is causing these niggles?
2. There is a central electrical point some where that needs attention that could be causing these problems
3. Just look at them one by one

I would really appreciate a bit of knowledge on this if some one would be kind enough please :)

Thanks in Advance

Thanks for your reply Flossie :)

I am by no means a mechanic (although I was back in my late teens, which has long left my memory) but I do know my way around an engine as in the basics but I have no experience of a P38 at all when it comes to electric, I am happy to take it all on as I come from a farm and work in IT :)

OK, so the HVAC is not a pump :) Is anyone aware of how to refurb this please if needs be or if there is a common fault I can fix myself? If not would I be right in guessing that plugging the Range Rover into a diagnostic will likely reveal more?

Thank you for the swift response, I am aware that the heater issue is brining up the book I was looking for a little more guidance if at all possible please on how to diagnose this issue.

The heated seat blowing the fuse and windows as well all on one side I was wondering if there was something central to look at or just go through these issues one-by-one and its just a coincidence that its all on the near side?

Could anyone offer advice on where to start with the heated seat as well please?

Many Thanks :)

Heated seat probkems are usually the mat inside the seat base or back cushion. It can break the wire matting and sometimes earth blowing a fuse.
The heating or lack of on one side could be a sticking flap inside the heater box behind the dashboard most likely a faulty motor driving the flap.
As for the windows, the switch pack on the face of the center cubby box can have dirty contacts in it.
Do you have a Nanocom or a dedicated P38 diagnostic tool?
This will give a better idea of the cars issues for future reference. 👍

The HEVAC is the Heating and Ventilation and Air conditioning controller, it is unlikely to need refurbishing.
Damp is the deadly enemy of the P38, you should run the air conditioning at all times to dry the interior.
If the passenger side is very damp, it is likely that there are the regular leaks from the scuttle and the pollen filter covers that need to be fixed. All you problems will stem from the damp.
The book symbol will most likely be a sticking or faulty blend motor, diagnostics are needed to confirm the problem.
As Mark said, the heated seat failure will be a broken wire and the windows will be the switch pack contacts, they can be dismantled and cleaned.

@h1tchiker All fairly common faults and have been covered lots of times on here and other p38 sites so a search for range rover p38 blend motors should bring up lots of info. I've done the drivers side heater motor without removing the dash ɓut not the passenger side as that's OK. Removing the dash complete means you can get at everything easily. It's
Not difficult just a bit of extra work.
Same search for the switchpack switches will bring up a fix for that, I've done that twice with great success. A nanocom helps to diagnose stuff but they aren't cheap.
Say where you are and someone maybe near who will plug it in for you? I would in telford Shropshire.
