Hi All,

This is my first post as a Range Rover / Land Rover owner, I have a 1995 2.5 DT and at the moment it won't turn over. What happened, it was being started and suddenly the dash went dim and started to slow turning over. I thought the battery had gone flat so charged it to be sure it was ok.

Now when you turn the key on the dash is bright for about 2 seconds and then dims and when you try to it over it just clicks.

I have taken the starter motor off and tried it just on the battery and it works fine.

Does anyone have any ideas ?

Many Thanks in advanced :)

Mark

check the earths if there ok check the wires from battery to starter and alternator they may look ok from the outside but rot inside the plastic cover.

duff battery! take it and get it checked by a battery supplier, they will check when power is drawn from the battery.

hi ladyranger, havent spoken for a while. Is your mate still on the shelf? tell her I was asking about her:hug:

hay dribbler!! yeah she's still there, although she has been taken down off the shelf and dusted a few time:hysterically_laughi i'll tell her your asking after her. :D

Todays update :

I have tried a new battery and it made no difference, I have replaced the main battery wires and it was still the same.

So I started removing wires etc to see if any difference was made, when I removed this from the starter motor, it now starts and runs.

Any idea where this goes and what it is for ?

well its a live wire as per the red bit on the end,can you trace it back to where it comes from as said it maybe to the alternator, but it seems youve found your bad wire/problem
