Hello. I've been digging about here and the net trying to solve this without much luck. My old wagon has been seeping oil from below the erg vac pump for a while and overheating with a crack in the rad plastic. Erg system was blanked before i bought the truck. Recently replaced my cracked rad with a shiny solid alloy job and cleaned oil from the intercooler while i was at it. Took off the erg vac pump, cleaned it, and for lack of a proper gasket i used instant gasket to try and improve the seal. The erg pump was doing nothing useful so i pulled off the dogs that connect to the drive shaft and sealed the pump with more instant gasket before bolting it back on to the cylinder head.
I have fresh oil and gear oil yet to be put in, but not yet so i could test.
Took her for a drive and all was well for about 10 minutes at 60 mph. Had to pull over due to overheating again. Checked under bonnet and theres a new mess of oil from under the egr vac pump and some seepage from the little pipe that meets the big air intake for the intercooler. I have photos but no idea how to share them here.
I was expecting there's something more going on here because of the crack in the old rad.
Should there be so much pressure round the egr vac pump?
Any idea whats wrong with my poor old wagon?
Could low engine oil or old oil filter do this? New filters are in the post. I know its dumb to run the wagon on low oil but dont want 50 quids worth of oil spat out all over the engine bay.
Thanks for any advice in advance,
Al.
