Hi and thanks for reading this
Vehicle is a 2003 L322 RR TD6 3.0 diesel 160k miles. No service history.
I,ve had my Range rover about 3 weeks and i have encountered the "trans Failsafe prog" a few times. No engine light is displayed. The car then drives with less pull especially from standing start. Turning the engine off for about 30sec will reset things and the car then drives fine again and pulls OK. The gearchanges are smooth with no juddering or vibration though i would say the car revs a bit high between changes.
I assume this is a sort of limp home mode to save me damaging something?)
I took the car into a JLR dealer in Birmingham (Jamesons) and they put the computer on it and the fault codes P0734 and P0735 were returned. Actually the output was "??;P0734?? bearbox monitor4 sporadic faultcurrent". And the same for P0735
They checked the oil in the GB in case it but reported it was fine.
I was then advised that it was an internal gearbox issue so i was referred to the local dealer.
Reading up on a few forums i get the impression that i should try other things first as i have heard that MAF sensors or 02 sensors can cause it. Or should i try an oil and filter change first.
If the gearbox needs doing then thats fine but i am always a bit loath to do this without making sure its not something simple first as obviously its a big outlay. I have no history of the vehicle so for all i know it may be a replacement GBox thats in it and just need an oil and filter change.
Any advice or assistance is appreciated.
Phill
