I am about to get the P Gasket changed on my 300tdi
The question is should i replace my water pump at the same time ??
Another question
I have a vibration at differant speeds and metal sort of noises like spoons clacking together from the front somewhere!!
I am going to check the ujs but I am thinking front axel maybe.

Hello Steve.

metal sort of noises like spoon clacking together ...........

My TD5 makes a similar noise but thats my left hand bonnet hinge :D

Frankly mate even the best description of a noise on here is a bit like having M. Marcel Marceau on the radio. :D

Assuming you cant feel the vibration through the steering wheel are you sure it's not an engine mount for instance ?

Yep I know. May be Jimmy young or Dave lee travis or Tony blackburn enough about DJS LOl!!!
I have no movment from the engine bay so I think the front prop should be the first look!! Ujs .

My apologies

You have no idea who Marcel Marceau is do you ? :D

Seriously though you're going to need to look at all front end steering/suspension and drive components ;)

Thanks for making me smile BD - I'm stuck in an Hotel room alone on business enjoying some uninterrupted LZ time

Your Marcel Marceau comment reminded me of the first (of many) times my kids made me feel old, when I found myself saying 'it's not as good as the original'

Guess it comes to us all:D

Possibly - but I came to terms with being an old git a while back!

Joking aside - loving LZ. I joined 4 forums when I acquired 'Dennis', but this is the only one I go into most days. A great crowd and some spot on advice

Now, that's my being nice over and done with for another month:rolleyes:

I always say growing old is compulsory, growing up is optional ;) :D

Got to agree with you there LZ rocks :D

So
The noise was the rear Prop. Replaced the prop for a new un, the one on my truck had the ujs welded up and had gone .
had the p gasket and a new water pump put on at the same time and alt belt . It drives like a dream and no more noises. :)
ps the link regarding p gasket renewel helped big time.
