Orrible rattling noise

Have a read of this link below. Similar problem. Some of these guys argue that it's a transmission bearing as opposed to the release bearing causing the problem. I'm no expert so I don't know. But since it's such a big job and you'll be down in the vicinity anyway, does it make sense to change the gearbox bearings anyway?
