Personaly I doubt it's an injector, I think you'd have smoke all the time if it was.

The pipes I mean are the big air hoses from the turbo to the engine (you did say it's turbo diesel didn't you?), I'd take them off look inside them for signs of them falling apart (they do aparently) and look for splits (if they leak, the engine's not getting as much air as it thinks so there's too much fuel for the air). iirc, there's a small pipe (8mm ish) from the turbo to the injector pump which (using the air pressure) adjusts the amount of fuel), the reason for thinking it might be to do with the turbo is because it's 2000rpm.

That's about as much as I can suggest for now, I'm a qualified mechanic but can't claim to being any sort of expert on diesels.
