gonna be tight on a barge with a family no? good points though- I agree
We're looking at a 25 metre (82') by 5.2m (17') barge....a shortened spits maybe or a Hagenaar....gonna be tight on a barge with a family no? good points though- I agree

Amen to that+3 to the above....
My next move is onto a Barge, myself and my girlfriend have thought about it for a while now, and now we are thinking of starting popping out the sprogs, we would love for them to learn skills like maintaining the engine, working on the boat, repairs, nature, self reliance etc...rather than sitting in front of a computer/xbox/ps3 or the like endlessly...but to be able to live life on their wits and knowledge without fear of the outside world but to get stuck in and muck out!

Seen a couple and the damn things are bigger than my parents house
Yeah mooring fee's are horrendous...looking at the 8k per year region...trying to keep my ear to the ground on any backwater moorings that may pop up...still got a year to search!!been thinking along similar lines..but what puts me off is mooring fees and lack of rangie parking...
getting bored of waiting for parts now..need the fans ,inlet manifold gaskets and ip to turn up...bit stuck without them...thinking of respraying car electric blue..or in a union jack....
Same thoughts here....marina mooring is costly, and not really the lifestyle we are after...marina parking=££££££££££££££££££££££££££
its what has stopped me...need a job so must be based in one area, thus want nice mooring, nice safe, kiddy friendly, car friendly......so that really means marina..but that means £££ and waiting list....
so no go...plus boat has to be bought outright, bugger getting mortgage on 50 yr+ old floating dutch boat!..though one could park on dutch boat...??
