Hi everyone, my family and I traveled down from Swindon in Wiltshire on Friday in the rain for two weeks holiday in North Devon, near bridport.

On the way down my 1989 200tdi 110 developed a few electrical problems.
Worried about the return journey as well as the rest if the holiday.

Can anyone help me or recomend a garage that might?

I need a replacement reverse light and I need both indicators and gauges sorting out.

Please please please help.

I wonder if as you have lost so much - possibly faulty ignition switch as I know 2 ign live terminals on my 90

I had the ignition switch replaced about two months ago, everything good since then.
Iv also towed the new trailor tent since then and all good.

Just since leaving in the rain Friday it's been a little odd.

Indicators work fine on the Landy but the hazards only flash on the passenger side.

Right indicator works on trailer and on kandy, left indicator on Landy only, hazards do same as before, nothing on the trailor.

Fuel guage and amp/volt meter read of scale or fuel even though it's not.

On a lighter note today has been sunny all day, so enjoyed the beach. It Pd down all day and night Friday and part if yesterday.

The night sky was clear at 3am, never seen so many stars.

So looking for a LZm or good local garage.

Bideford's a bit out of the way and the entire north part of Devon & cornwall is a right bugger to get to because the roads out there are crap! Even the A roads are single lane most of the way :(

If youre heading back this way, Im based in Taunton. Probably the closest LZ member, weve got a really good independent Landrover garage here - Country Rovers, theyre exceptionally good and very helpful.

Connected the trailer to someone else's car and it's fine, so pointing back to the Landy. I agree it could be an earth but god knows where.

To too it all off, I had the transmission overhauled last week, had it back three days before we came away and now oils PEing out of that and I can hear a grinding sound (like a bearing) when coasting and a clicking when driving underload. That said the ticking could be a blown head gasket.

Can't believe this all happened in the space if five hours.

Hopefully if I have to call on my adrianflux brake down cover it will work better than the Landy currently is.

Always seems to happen after long journeys... Towing a boat home last weekend 100 mile away from home the wheel bearing collapsed leaving me stuck on a busy A road ..... Should add i will now always replace them when there noisy and not ignore

If you have breakdown cover try not to worry so much. Your on holiday after all.

Hi guys, got the electrics sorted by an autoelectrion in Barnstaple.

Brilliant bloke called Steve ford at motatec on 01271323235.

Fixed all the indicator issues and my gauge reading issues at just over an hour and for £48 all in.

Turns out he was an apprentice for land rover back in 89 when mine came out.

Got her booked in to have the clicking checked in the gearbox as soon as I get back to Swindon this Saturday.

Just about to call Devon 4x4 and see if they can advice me as well. I also need to get a fuel sender and replacement front door hinges, I'm hoping they will have them all and let me collect to meet them too.

Only just seen this post, I would have been there and done it for nought other than a cup of tea!

Topsy, North Devon.

Fair point well presented, I am still trying to get set up on here as I am out the country 8 months of the year. So knowing my luck I would always be needed when I am not at home!

We send a text to those that are closest on the map. If they can help, great, if they can't, no worries :)
