If you take the fan off you can get a bar on the nut and try and check its movement clockwise and anti-clockwise with the belt still on. You should get some flex if its ok but if its got no flex in it then its knackered. You can watch it when the engines running to see if it wobbles also, just wear kevlar body armour in case ss it lets go!
