Your £6000 budget is fairly low from my experience.

I have twice that budget and am looking for a good 90 300tdi or TD5 CSW, for my wife. Everything l have seen so far is past its best and over described

Recently l bought a 2005 110 CSW for £13,750 from a dealer in Henley, to use myself, and it is an absolute minter, so they are out there.

Haha,

I did knock everywhere with the heavy steel socket extension thing that I had. Did the magnet test as well and generally felt the same everywhere. There was a small patch of rust towards the back on one side. I was able to scratch off some of it so I think that was still surface rust..

Forgot to mention, this was a one owner from new car as well. Really didn't thought these existed after all these years. But does make me think whether I missed something. Hopefully not..

Yeah, I do realise I am being a bit cheap but I didn't really want to spend too much as I get 20% and a bit off new Land Rovers being an employee and since my company is UK vat registered, I can reclaim some or all vat depending on useage, which puts a brand new SW 90 at around under 20k.

I guess the exercise is to try and get something that is a bit rough but good platform for me put a bit of work on and to bolt new bits to rather than a mint ready to use high spec car.
