I bought a Land Rover SII ¿A? long ago ~ May 2002 and now after retired and no need chasing the Fish&Chips anymore and reviving the Land Rover after a few years standing idle.

This Land Rover is quite a mix of civilian and military.

First thing was a good wash and now checking petrol tubing as well as seals on differential and where ever the Land Rover thinks has to mark his territory.

Unless Mexican models are very different to ours, I would say that is one of the last Series 2a, or a Series 3.
And the only thing I can see externally that is military is the double bumper, which are often fitted to civilian models over here.
Looking forward to more pics and info on that.
 
Nice, a few years standing idle in mexico - nice looking landy, if it had been a few years standing idle in UK it would have been a load of body panels resting on a rusty pile of what was once chassis. I do like the canvas spare wheel cover!

Hi,
This vehicle seems to be a mixture oc Civilian an Military. I have nor been able to track the whole story but from 1962 to 1974 it was running in the city of Merida and I heard, can not confirm, that the owner went over to Belize (British Honduras) to buy spare parts. I guess it was a good think for this car having only 3 owners. I think I finally found a good mechanic now. Solving the Oil leaks slowly.

One interesting thing is that one day after having taken out the engine for repairing the rear crankshaft seal I saw the number 66 in white letters in Stencil font ... ¿military?

The car has two petrol tanks. One as civilian and the other under the driver seat (Left hand) with a 4 inch opening :eek:, every time I go to the petrol station the employees wonder why I start to dismantle the car ... :oops:
