not if you swing the cam timing and skim the head to increase the CR, btw LPG has an effective octane rating of 114(ish) so can cope with compression ratios of 12:1 and above

also i take it your v8 is a 3.5 and your running a 3.9 cam

It might be, I've never been too sure. The bloke who owned it before me rebuilt it, and he said it's now a 3.9 engine with 3.5 manifolds and intakes. It does have LOTS of go though. What makes you say that, anyway?

Could this engine have an early bottom end (with filler cap) and a later rocker cover (with filler cap....)?

you saying about loosing power with the gas, you can make up for it with the V8 by fitting the 3.9 cam

Nah there's no problem with power from the V8, there is a difference between running on Petrol and LPG, but it is very powerful anyway so it doesn't bother me. What I was getting at was the fact that the 2286cc petrol engines are a bit sluggish anyway, and on LPG that it would be even worse... you'd probably notice the power loss even more on an old engine like that.

piccie......breather on rocker cover, filler to left of engine, oil can go in either.
