i thought it was just well packed with grease!
that's why you have the member gasket so that doesn't escape from hub bearing and the cap on the nose of the member. If the hub seal was damaged it wouldn't be leaking here, it would be leaking all across the back face oy your brake disc
Just had a roastin' off a mate and he says 'it's meant to be there, how else would the bearings get greased!!!!'
