hello,

this morning on the way to work my 200tdi sprung a leak from the oil pressure switch, no notice, nothing, just started lubricating everything in its path! the place where it was leaking was just next to the spade terminal. most peculiar!

i managed to get my hands on a spare and low and behold it fixed the leak, drive a few more miles down the road and the oil cooler pipe blew, i'm starting to think the two are related???

am i running at too higher pressure?

the engine did nearly run dry of oil, i managed to get 5 ltrs into it bloody quick but i have to say today has left me VERY worried this is pointing to something else.

any help would be welcome! i have a 14mile trip home... i dont know if i should call the rac or not!

thanks
Rob

possible but those are 2 common faults

I guess i should be putting on a pressure gauge to see what its running at and then making a decision once i can see what its doing???

I'll get a t piece and a vdo gauge ordered. the oil pump was new a few months back so i'm hoping its not that!!!

Good idea to check the actual pressure with a gauge, good idea to have a guage as a permanent fitting. If it's an issue it should only be the relief but not sure if that is integral on a 200 tdi oil pump, JM will know.

Have you tried a google search as Im sure I have read of this problem before on the 200, but cant remember what the answer was!
