Hi guys, im thinking of fitting an oil pressure gauge to my 1996 4.6 and wondered if anyone else has done this?

where did you fit the gauge?
whats thread size is the oil pressure switch hole?
did you go for an electrical or a mechanical gauge?

and im thinking due to the electrical system being voltage specific a volt meter wouldn't go amis either, find a little cowling for two gauges maybe?

pod was a universal fitting ! although i had to blend it in with filler and then recover the a pillar.originaly tried to cover pod with same material as pillar. but due to its profile had to resort to colour code it and cut material aound it. still i think its turned out ok!:D

hiya mate i personally would plumb for a capillary gauge as they are more accurate than an electric one , as for fitting it the normal way is to remove the oil pressure switch and screw in a tee piece which will take the pipe to your gauge and also allow you to retain the switch for your oil pressure light .
as for the thread im not to sure , i would guess maybe 1/8 bspt , you can always use your oil pressure switch as a sample for the thread .
rick.

thanks for this but the underbonnet bit isnt a problem, im unsure as to where to fit the gauge its self! i wondereed where others have fitted theres?

what did you use to te into the oil pressure switch connection, im guessing a Tee but was the tee screwed directly into the engine or into a flexy connector then the tee somewhere else? what thread is inthe block? you got pics of this bit?

many thanks if you have.....

its done, managed to screw an elbow into the oil switch hole in block this then went to a high pressure hose, then into a tee with pressure sender and pressure switch.

I am about to fit a oil pressure meter as well, do you remember the thread size for the oil pressure switch? Would be nice to have all the parts ready before i start the job.
