Oil leak from turbo TD4

No it doesn't have a clip, it has a grommet/insert at each end to make a seal. You should remove the complete duct and check it and the grommet for damage. Pay particular attention to the small pipe that branches off as that is from the breather.

Thanks Chaser:)

Why do certain people discriminate others by giving a different avatar on different forums ? I myself prefer "the other" one by far you know .....:D:D:D:D;)

:D:D:D better bodywork than my old Series 3 don't you think Willo? ;)

Better ? Mucho better you mean ......:D:D
It's as if you compared a Lada with a Lotus Elise.......(bodywork that is, don't know about the reliability....)

The new crankcase breather was fitted for two weeks ago, but the leak is still there. Can I have some gasket problems between the turbo and the engine?

Torsen, there's no point in guessing.
You have to clean the area and run the engine and check until you find the first appearance of the oil leak.
If it's very messy get it steam cleaned.
There is a oil pressure feed pipe and a return drain to the block.

I still see some oil at the turbo unit after changing my breather. But not as bad as last time where i can see oil stain at m garage.Maybe its due to some old oil still not burnt.

Just found out that my dealership SC just change the breather filter not the whole housing. Will it have any effect if the housing is not change
?

Providing the depression limiting valve in the housing is working there is no requirement to change it. Under normal operating conditions it has no effect on oil separation.

you could drop the lower pipe off the intercooler if you get oil run out then your turbo could be pulling it though from a bearing seal

But you will always find oil residue in the intercooler even with a healthy breather system since it breathes hot vapour from the crankcase into the inlet tract where it is cooled by the intercooler along with the inlet air which causes the oil vapour to condense inside the intercooler and hoses.

Because of the turbo boost pressure it tends to find it's way out through the slightest leak.

I've read a bulletin somewhere where Land Rover or it could have been Nissan for the X-Trail recommending the use of Hylomar sealant on inlet hose joints to alleviate the problem.

Went out town on the highway speeds up to 180km/hr did 1000kms.No leak and no loss of engine oil:)Did the IRD,defrential and also the atf change at dealership.Found atf and deffrential oil a bit dirty. Will do it again at the next 30k kms.Found that very smooth runing after change:D

I had smoke out of the exhaust and oil drips on the floor at 60000 miles. I first noticed when pulling away from lights smoke coming from exhaust. Landrover dealer, very helpful, said immediately engine crankcase breather an item which Landrover revised the change period to 12000 miles, this is not commonly known and is not in the service manuals. Cost about £30 from dealers and easy to fit. Just remove air filter and you will see it. It is also fitted to the Rover 75 diesel and 2 litre BMW's. The actual problem is not the filter blocking but the spring loaded diaghram under the round section. I took mine apart ( just clips to prise open)and found this was stuck to the plastic, If not done pressure can build up and blow turbo seals, free off and spray a little with WD40 Silicone spray available from Halfords.

If you can post some pictures here it would be helpful.:welcome2:

Open my EGR valve today and to my surprise its damn dirty with carbon and oily sludge in it.Soak it in engine degreaser and slowly repeat the cycle as to thick for the degreaser to react in one go.Fix it up and tested no leaks.:D
