No it cost me just over 8g to be honest I'm fuming and to cap it all the loner they gave is an old Volvo no stereo heater on full permanently ABS light on all the time shakes like a shighting dog I'm sick as fook to be honest I've looked at the dealers reviews and all is brighter than bright. I have spoken to a landrover dealer and they will look at it for 80 an hour which I'm sure I will get back as I'm going to take this legal for definite think I'm getting thee hole ripped right out of me !!!

fook me £8k, thats a lot of dough, there a good 04 pursuit near me for £4k, take it back and demand your money, Not fit for purpose!!!!!

Thanks I will I will be naming and shaming this dealer if they do not come good I thought they were ok but I think not. Fit for purpose defiantly not its got more leaks than the titanic lol

It would be easy to say don't let this put you off, and there are lots of good Disco's out there. But lets face it. They are getting long in the tooth, and a lot have had a hard life. Really good ones that have no issues at all, are becoming very, very rare. If anything you have gained a bit of knowledge for the next one you look at...If this one hasn't scared you off.

That is surely top top price on a disco 2 ?

Sunroof handle leak is very usual on these , id say you have a oil leak from the top cover of the head ,leaking down the bell housing , and a leak on the transfer box . Not exactly what you want spending 8k .

Hindsight is a wonderful thing but this forum , just reading a few posts would of prepared you with what to look for before shelling out hard earned cash .

I would seriously seek legal advice and get a second opinion on the vehicle

i.e a full inspection and report , from aa,rac,main dealer etc..

whats under all the under seal stuff , its not unknown for a 2004 discovery to be scrapped due to rust in the chassis , yes i did say 2004 !!

Oh and the rattle on start up is possibly the duel mass flywheel rattling , or thrust bearing eitherway it needs fixing .

True! OR... could it just be the short-duration grinding noise which can be felt through the brake pedal as the ABS system sorts itself?
