Hi there I have just bought a Discovery 2 TD5 and after I got it took it for a long run on my return I found oil coming out from around the middle level with drivers door I took it back and the dealer told me it was the breather pipes and they were pointing down which I found funny I took it away and then took it on another long journey and the same happened it now makes a noise like a dry bearing when cold when the clutch is pressed but when warm this stops I have to take it back to the dealer and would like some advice as this sounds like money and don't want the warranty to run out. Cheers

What sort of oil is it leaking? (Colour?)
Can you be more specific where it's leaking from/pics.

ACE pipes imo
Take it back and get your money back

Breather pipes??? If its a breather the only thing it should leak would be air surely!
Hes talking through a hole in his a55.
Where are you, sounds like you could do with a friendly face to look your Discovery over

yep, unfortunately mine is leaking from the front of the transfer box. have used that website a fair bit in the 6 months of Disco ownership.

Mate if you landy has dumped it gearbox oil ( more common than you would think) My mated dumped its oil into the bell housing .(if its stopped leaking ,its prob out of oil)

The box failed all gears lost but 4th ==== £££ job

The gear box breathers (if fitted correctly) run up into the engine bay ,and said in this thred no oil would escape from here ,it is a stupid suggestion .

If your near Sedgley west mids ,ill look at it free of charge ,and speak to the garage .

Cheers all I will get some pics and post them does any one know what the noise is when the engine is cold when clutch is pushed cheers

From first post I would have thought a bad leak at the ACE block, and the noise would back that up with the pump running dry. But black oil and clutch connection confuse things a bit. get your photo's up asap.

You can see the oil all over cross beam and the oil under the cylinder

There is an oil leak which the oil colour is light brown which seems to be coming out of a alloy block from both ends think this is the transfer block then there is a cylinder in the same area which I think is where there is thick black gear box oil coming from this happens after long journeys the dealer was so helpful as he under sealed the discovery could he have been trying to hide the leaks ?. The oil black thick oil is all over the underneath around the area where the front brace goes across under the gear box. The lever to go into low box can also be very difficult to put into low box should this be so. I feel like telling the garage I want my money back feel like I have been sold a money pit !,

Is the alloy block you are referring to on the side of the outside face of the chassis approx below the drivers seat? The oil on the cross member could be from a number of places as it could be blowing back when driving.
