I am getting a lot of oil through the turbo and intercooler on my 2000 DSE.
I have removed the EGR which helped, however a lot of oil I have found is coming from the crankcase vent.

On my 2000 model the vent valve is inside the camshaft cover. It has a membrane and spring mechanism to maintain a vacuum inside the engine but Rave doesn't say much about it.

Can it be cleaned or repaired? if so how?

The early ones (Pre EGR) opened when pressure built up. The later ones (EGR) cause a constant depression in the crank case to lower emissions. There is a mesh oil seperator in the cam cover that may need cleaning. Oil in the turbo pipes is normal. That is why the intercooler should be flushed every 48,000 miles. With an older engine more often.

I have now removed the cam cover and dismantled the oil separator inside. There is a wire mesh pad which although was not blocked or particularly dirty, I have cleaned anyway.

There is also a plastic breather valve mechanism screwed inside the cover (see attached photo) which I would like to renew. I suspect the part is faulty. I can't easily blow through the valve and I also think it has been responsible for a clicking noise I have had from the engine.

Microcat does not list the part and I cant find a match to any BMW car part despite checking the reference numbers stamped on the part.

Anybody renewed it and know where to get it?

Don't think you should be able to blow thru the valve it is opened by vacuum as the turbo sucks. Then seals again when engine stops.

Favourite maybe a BMW main dealer. But go with a written mortgage promise from any well know building society. You may well need it.

Oli seperator valves commonly fail on BMWs, so dealers or indys should have a good stock of them. Try searching against the engine code - M51D25TU OL
