Hello all, can anyone tell me if the oil filter is located at the rear of the engine on the drivers side, just above the sump guard? Its a 2000 2.5 V6.

Can't remember where mine was on the Hippo.
Shuold be pretty odvious though, looks like an oil filter ;)

I think it is but the reason I ask is because it appears as though there is coolant leaking from it. It's a bit concerning.

That sounds a bit odd. You may want to get that looked at....soon.
Have you checked the water level? Of course you have, silly question.
Not sure what that would be to be honest, sorry :(

Yes the water levels have been checked and it has been loosing coolant for a while. Just had the radiator replaced last week due to it leaking which untill now was thought to be problem cured. Is there anything around that area that could be prone to leaking and could be possibly dripping onto the filter?

That's a point, water pump is on the left side of the engine as you look in from the front. Like Willo says, could be that? I think the thermostat is nearer the front of the engine bay though.

the thermostat is located in the V of the engine at the centre, if this leaks the drain hole out of the V is at the back and it will drop down onto the oil filter so this could easily be your problem,

and yes you do have to remove your inlet manifolds to change it, what a rubbish idea i know

with your engine cover removed you should shine a torch into the V and if its leaking you will see it

OK, thankyou, I will take a closer inspection to see if I can see anything where you mention.
