Hi
Had an oil change last month on my td6 2006 vogue. Engine sounded sweat for a few days then when cold starting it seemed to be a lot tappity for about 5 mins.
Fearing the worst( timing chain worn etc) I took advise from Doug Dransfields Landrover in Sheffield and drained the new manufacturers recommended oil of 5-40 and swooped it for the thicker 10-40, as they said my engine was as sweat as it could be when warm.

Let's see if she is quieter in the morning?

Oh dear, BMW have got it wrong again:rolleyes: Service schedule specifies 5W40 from -30 to +50C:p:)
Oh and my timing chain is fine as is the modulation at 118K miles, how long did yours last?

Service schedule for your climate is 10 w 30 40 or 60. When does it drop to -30 degrees in your part of the world. The 40 i will go along with the 5 is totally not needed in your area.

Surprised then that it's the first specified choice on the schedule.
Lots of good reasons IMO for using it including that it can go from -17 to plus 40C here in the course of a year.

Hi Tony, Yes good time was had, gardening, painting in the mornings. Relaxing in the afternoons and drinks in the evening.;):)

Sounds about the right way to do things, watching wife gardening and painting in the mornings. Directing operations from a comfy seat. Having a kip in the afternoon then getting ****ed at night. Way to go mate. :D:D

If only, but she was busy on the mop, lots of tiled floors and terraces.:D:D

Got to keep the old hacienda clean and tidy for the swinger parties i suppose. It's just started absolutely peeing down here. Rain is rattling the bloody windows. Will have washed the patio, that's saved me a job. :D:D:D
