As some people know I am looking for a used 90 defender ( maybe a 110 ) under 5k

I have been offered the following.. what do people think ?

K reg in Arles blue with 120k miles on the clock .Side windows were professionally fitted with inward facing rear seats, rubber floor mats and carpeted wheel arches and rear panel. There are 2 cloth seats in front fitted with Exmoor covers and with an Exmoor cubby box, radio with carpeted floor and sound insulation.
Externally, it has side steps and a sump guard, twin spots on a "d" bar and wheel arches/panels to reduce the mud sticking to the underside.
It is taxed until end of May and mot until the end of 2010 with its last service in Dec,all servicing carried out a local garage with supporting receipts. The gear box was refurbished by LEGS and a new rear chassis member has been fitted. ( picture attached )

He sounds a nice guy and said he wanted £3700ono

sounds bout rite...get it for £3500 and you will have done well

looks like it's just out of the factory, apart from those horrible rails

landies like that will appreciate in price over the next 10 years if you can keep it in it's current condition

I would say thats a good car for the price, I paid £3400 for mine last month, and its not in as nice nick as that one.

Certainly looks good and I would say for that price or a bit less I would take the chance. Leaves you with £1300 'to play with' if it needs any work doing..... it's ready to roll for the summer. As long as your not meeting and paying on a carpark...Yes!

Thanks for the comments..

I noticed on the for sale board there was a 1986 Land Rover 90 in excellent condition for £2500 with no rear seats. I was wondering what is the cost for fittings nice rear seats ?

The reason I ask that is that occasionally you will see what seems like good buys like this '1995 LAND ROVER DEFENDER 90 300 TDI, 89k, immaculate £3995' but is a hard top so I wondered how much it cost for say adding windows and also seats ?

Im with Wilts an Sean on this , get it HPI'd ( i would anyway , you never know ) have a good look under it etc etc normal stuff - offer £3500 and see if he plays ... if he does and everything checks out .

sell them steps on ebay :D

.,

Rear seats - £35 if you want the bench style brit part ones - very easy to fit - 1/2 per side.

Windows will take more time, effort, and skill - mine were bodged by the previous owner, who cut the hole too big! - Usualy best to get a set of side panels with the windows in and swap them over

Seat belt prices are what ever you can get them for.
