Just wondering if theres anywhere i can get part worn off road tyres. I can get new no problem. The best looking availabe in my size required (225 75 16) is the toyo country mud terrain which i can get for £380.

But just wondering if theres anywhere that sells decent off road part worns.

I'm not a fan of part worn tyres, or mud biased tyres either. Part worns are an unknown, and mud tyres grip dreadfully on wet tarmac, and are noisy on dry tarmac.

You can get new Yokohama Geolander AT 015 for about £75 each, fitted, so why risk safety by cheaping out on the only thing in contact with the road. The Geolander AT 015 is a go anywhere, long lasting tyre, that gives better wet road grip, than a lot of premium road tyres.

Really pleased with my Geolanders which were also really awesome in snow, and work well Greenlaning across Salisbury plain :D

They're my tyre of choice, but sadly aren't available in every size. I find they have premium brand road tyre wet grip, and also exceptional off road grip too. They are a really good allrounder IMO.

100% agree - feels like a road tyre, but also very capable off it. I bought them on your recommendation, and so pleased I did :D

Kumho MT51’s are a bit more off road biased to look at but still behave on the road. Never compared the two but you do get a bit of howl from the MT51’s, not an issue on a D2 in my opinion but might be noticeable in a smaller car. Looks like you’ve got a decent enough recommendation as above though!

In my experience Kumho ATs, while good, they aren't so good in the wet as the Yokohama Geolander and being a more aggressive tread, make a dreadful noise through the monocoque Freelander body.

Hence the Yokohama Geolander recommendation. ;)

I’ve not had to try them in anger in the wet, nice to have someone make a comparison though! The D2 is going from toy to daily in a few weeks time so who knows I may well be looking for something less aggressive for daily use. The MT’s aren’t quite a full mud tyre but if the AT’s are noisy these would be horrific on a FL. Being a child I kind of like it though!!!

Nice to see a tyre thread with the OP getting a clear informed answer. Probably should print this out and frame it!!
