some/I] removable tow balls are ok. Some are very poor. Look at how they are made welding design and decide weather you would be happy to hang off a cliff with your wife and kids and that being the only point of attachment.

Look for an 8m rope ropey buoyes on ebay they did me nfantastic deal! when halfed 4 meters can be very handy indeed!

It's getting silly I might have to buy some equipment and sell good stuff.

A rope will give some take the harshness out of a recovery whereas a strop you have zero give as designed. This will do several things,

Impose all the energy instantly over a millisecond causing strops to rip stitching at best wore case jarring occupants backs, ripping off rated equipment shackles and chassis components without helping the stuck vehicle. A rope will spread and smooth out the recovery allowing you to use some momentum ad the weight of towing vehilcle.

You can use strops but you need to take the slack up and once taught drive off this means your only going to shift something if the towing vehicle has lots of grip. Not likely and you cannot use the weight of towing vehicle to help.

Look on YouTube and there are plenty of examples of poor strop recovery.

Nowadays people use winches and strops far too often back when winches were £1000's rope was used and its usually quicker and easier than reaching for the winch

Nice one jai, the removable two ball looks new and hardly used, I'll look at getting ropes soon :) is it worth getting one of those bridles? The rope that links the two front recovery points to even the load each side?

Yep definatly worth it to spread the load. Its nice to have the option of one side or other depending on recovery situation also

Nick if you are in any doubt about Rope and std tow balls see how hard they get abused during team recovery comps. (Hopefully to be taking part next year myself).

The tow points are beefed up on all vehicles but the tow balls and bolts are typically std 8.8 HT bolts and std towballs with any edge ground smooth. All vehicles are fitted with mesh as ropes Do occasionally break but they are abused alot and its a speed event.
