So this has happened a couple of time the car jumps to wade height and stays there none of the other settings will adjust oddly if I turn the engine off the compressor is still running ????

Yes iv cleaned the white connector under the passenger kick panel checked for leaks no more time this morning to investigate so have disconnected the was pump for now

Will have another look in search when I get home

Compressor should certainly not run with ignition off. Only thing that can be causing that is a knackered compressor relay. In this situation with compressor running system is sealed and even if ECU tries to lower car by opening corner valves all that will happen is high pressure air will flow into the bags. Because with compressor running diaphragm valve is closed and system is sealed.

so update time replaced the relay and all seems well until this evening short 30 minute journey and the car keeps jumping to wade height. both in auto and manual eas mode thankfully a quich press of the eas button drops it to correct ride height.
the pump is no longer running after engine turned off so that seems sorted unless the pump is continually running while engine on ?? needs a bit more investigating me thinks

I bloody didn't get an l322 poxy thread suffix, driver pack offer is good of you I'll have another look today the pump isn't running on any more after ignition off like before but its jumping to wade height but comes down again when I press the button.

Gonna try a new relay as the replacement is suspect every now and again the pump isn't running at all quick flick on the relay and away it goes car rises, oh what fun

Check the relay contacts while your at it Dave.

cheers tom had a quick look seems all good i did repair and refurb the fuse box last year contacts seem fine.
new relay went in at 9 this morning and been fine ever since

Mine used to jump to wade height just when it wanted to and would drop when told. Threads on here recommended to change the driver pack. There was some debate cos the driver pack shouldn't effect the height but I changed it and that cured the problem.

Driver pack does effect height because it as a slave of the ECU opens and closes the valves in the valve block to fill or deflate the bags, other than the diaphragm valves which is activated by the compressor relay. Duff driver packs can cause feedback into the ECU and make it do some strange things. Jumping to wade is not always the driver pack though. Lots of things to look at before you spend big money on a driver pack.

Yep I agree lol.
I changed mine cos it had been driving me nuts and was about the last resort.
EAS software wasn't detecting a fault

On some occasions just the physical plugging in of the new driver pack firms up the bad connection that was causing the problem. All that sort of thing MUST be checked first. Damp or a problem connection on the height selector switch is another favourite or at the interface of the height selector switch to ECU. (The white plug at base of A post). The height selector switch is not just a momentary switch it is packed full of electronics. That is why a new one costs £340.00. Driver packs do fail but not as often as many would have you believe. But the fact that they are still readily available must tell a tale.

There is a small 'fix' that you can do in the driver pack that can rectify some of these problems. No clear proof that it works but some, including me, have done it and then suffered no further headaches.
