I'm nowhere near as flexible as I used to be, but having contorted myself to the max, I can't find the OBD2 port anywhereo_O
Please put me out of my misery...I'm desperate to plug in my handy Bluetooth thingy and see what TorquePro may enlighten me with:cool:
There's no handbook with the car, but I've just ordered a Haynes Manual off fleabay.

The port is behind the centre console on the passenger side. However if it's a diesel before 2005 it won't be OBD2 compliant, so you'll need a dedicated LR reader.

Aha...mine's a 2002 vintage TD4...so it seems I hadn't missed it after all:cool:
I did notice a receptacle on my search in vain for the ODB2 port - likely to accept a device of some sort - in the under bonnet fuse "box".

You will have the diag port and your ODB(2) dongle will fit it. It just won't give you much (amy) info. With my 99 vintage car "computer says no".

I did plug in a "generic" tool though that would talk to the Wabco ABS, but it wouldn't talk to the engine

I thought that the pins looked very similar to the OBD2 layout - and that they looked rather oxidised. Went to the boat and picked up a tin of Contact cleaner.
Am I correct in believing that my 2002 is a "Freelander 1"?

Yes it is a Freelander 1.

The connector is same as OBD 2 but you need a reader with the Land Rover protocol.
Icarsoft, Pscan, to name a couple.
PScan gets vote. The developer is on this forum with the user @pscan.eu
 
Icarsoft i930 is a huge disappointment.
On my 2002 TD4 only reads engine codes and engine data.
Nothing else works. Pscan will allow live data logging, ABS, key enables, Jatco auto box, it also allows you to operate the ccu controlled equipment, wipers, door locks etc.

I found the OBD2 Socket, under its cover in passenger footwell.
Plugged in my cheapo Bluetooth thingy and...managed to get sensible info via Torque Pro!
After many overheating incidents on my P38 4.6 with LPG conversion, I want to get real time ACTUAL temperature display of the coolant and can now keep an eye on it. Also being displayed are voltage, throttle, acceleration :) voltage and other activities.
I'll have a dig and delve over the next few days and create a real time display or two on my phone.
Thanks to all who have given me feedback to my requests for help/advice.

Andy, yes I agree the i930 is disappointing, but it does at least read most things. Luckily both the TD4's I look after are later models. would still be nice to get data from the Jatco though. When I get a chance I will try my Delphi DS150E clone !!

The I930 is much better on the FL2 showing every module (there are almost 30:eek:), including helpful stuff like the live distance from a object to each PDC sensor in 5cm increments.

It can't do anything other than read and clear codes and show live data, but that's all that's needed at the side of the road.

When I get a chance I will try my Delphi DS150E clone !!
The Delphi DS150E is very good on the FL1 and FL2.
It will show gearbox codes on the FL1, and activate the solenoids for testing.
On the FL2 is can read things like injector codes, and update them if need. It can also clear adaptive values from the ECM, actuate the TB butterfly, turbo actuator and the EGR valve, so it's pretty good, and of course it works with all cars, not just LR. ;)
