hi guys .
this is an odd one .
point of start of problem air suspension failed , could not read the ecu .
now the problem has grown dramatically .
engine obd working properly .
everything else no communication ,
flash the high beam and theres a delay followed by an extended flash of the lamps .
alarm going off when parked .
battery renewed following all faults above as a precaution . still will not scan .
scanners tried , snap-on and hawk eye from bermach

:confused::crazy_driver::confused:

Usual favourite for no comms on L322's was the headlight levelling ecu plug being corroded, full of green mush. Its at the bottom of the LH A pillar and has a pinkish plug.Just disconnect it and clean all the cr-p off it.Throw the ecu away - they don't work anyway. When you get good comms again use a decent tool such as Testbook to recongigure to non - levelling headlights.

this was soaked in water , i will have a really good look at these two things in daylight , i lifted it #out of a sodden carpet last week . and dried it all out . grrrrr looks likely .

The levelling ecu runs on the diagnostic K bus, which from memory is the one that goes back to the instrument pack where it meets the gateway to the can bus.If you look at the obd socket from memory the pins 6 and 14 that are normally used for can are blank. This is why the obd tool cant get comms.
(All from memory,so don't moan if I'm not 100% accurate)

eightinavee you just nailed it mate .
the sterring wheel function just sparked back into life . the headlight self level ecu is mullered , see pics

Despite having Testbook and access to LOTS of nice diagnostic kit, sometimes they still catch you out.Takes ages to find all the little tricks and common faults - then people start scrapping the bloody things.
Hope yours is sorted now, those headlight levelling ecu's were a a pain to LR right from the start, much better removed, and as you say cable tied up out of the swimming pool.

and I took mine through a big flood the other day!!!
All is well, but I don't think i'll ever do that again..

I will put door seals on my routine inspections and keep checking for water on carpets etc....

maybe I should get a 300tdi Defender......

Kieth.

I did look around for a Landcruiser before the l322 came along....

People are abusing their reliability with lack of maintenance...
