Only time mine was commented on regarding the MOT, was when the No2 had been peeled off ...

That is fine, think the Mitsubishi evo 29 or whatever number they're on now has it at the side of the bumper. The only rules are that it has to be visable infront of the front wheels, so in the windscreen is not allowed

Doesnt even need to be before front wheels, clearly visable from the fron of the vehicle is fine, as long as it can be seen correctly

A lot of people on Vw forums I frequent have been stopped for having their plates in the front screen and told by the coppers it has to be forward of the front wheels

mine on my old 90 has been on the near side vent for the last 3 M.O.T.'s
without a single comment from the examiner .

cant be in front screen , nowt to do with numberplate requirements , but covered by requirements of not obstructing swept area !

Re comments of where one has been for years etc , irrelevant if copper decides to take action then what you got away with previous wont cut it HTSH

I used to have mine on the front of the bonnet but got told that my disco would fail with it on the bonnet this year. Although they had just had a inspection at the MOT place and they didnt do to well apparently so were being closely watched. In my front window i just have my YAKULT reg plate :)

Correct, can't have nothing in swept area. Also the plate can't be behind glass as it is a reflective surface and needs to have no obstructions to it

Bonnet number plates are knot legal anymore however if it has one fitted there is no way to tell when it was fitted and therefore its a grey area of wether it's legal, if you had to replace it you couldn't put a stick on again. Also if it's not reflective it's not legal full stop...

I had my number plates in front screen and above the back door of my disco, when I got stopped I was told to replace them in the correct position and have it checked by an MOT station within 7 days.

I didn't have a number plate on the front for 13 month..... Got a £60 fine

Now it sits in the front windscreen and not had a problem for the last 16 month

That's exactly what I thought, doesn't mention anything about anti-reflection properties of the window or whatever it does !

Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk HD to annoy the Curmudgeons !

That's probably because they 'usually' have the pressed plates, I don't see how they are more illegal than a sticker, but then again, I think different cop's in different places will say different things
