Okay, my old gal. Lost keys, nightmare to get that sorted, but she ran out if MOT while sorting out the key/immobilzer issue. Northern Ireland, earliest date is November ffs..
Anyway, was watching inline and came across a nice 3 door in the south of england. Way down south. so far down south, its Deliverance terratory..
So...i contacted dealer, paid deposit then fly drive and bring her home. Nearly 500 mile drive to Cainryan Ferry to belfast. (Had a bit of other buisness to do when over.)
All smoth and trouble free. j'lo on the left is the new gal. And on the right is the old gal. Still going to get her on the road, but now have a 4x4 I wanted, running and ready to go.
Old girl lost a few bits....leather gator to gear stick, leather stearing wheel, leather gear knob, rear shelf, and all the stainless steel bolts i got for her rear lights, and if it fecking stops raining, the canvas roof I got for old gal.
Things to do.
1) Check rear drums, shoes and retaining pins. Been that soldier. 40 mile drive home on hand brake at 15 mile an hour. Touching cloth the whole way.
2) Needs a tow bar, which is good, meaning she wasnt used to tow nor had the guts pulled out of her. One picked up, wire brushed and ready to get bolted up. Has the plugged wiring, so easy plug in.
3) Did the one wheel up test. Was cold, so not certain, will redo when the fecking rain stops. Didn't look healthy, so considerng a recon from Bells and be certain what i have.
4) Bit of a hum, either wheel bearing or carrier dearings on VCU. If changing VCU will be new carriers, so just need to figure out if wheel bearing and which one.
Overall very happy. She has a full dealer sevice history. Sits at 168k miles , 2006, with sidesteps and roof rack. Clutch replaced at 127K.
Was considering reconing my injectors in the old girl, fitting them in j'lo then recon hers and fit in old girl. Means i have little down time, and if i screw up, i can buy a recon set.
Links on here very helpful and a lovely u tube video. Locally a boshe injector specialist can test and do a report for £15 each. That would ensure I know what i need to get replaced in each.
Anyone done this, and if so any does/donts?.
