Not a great day - more new problems than solved ones! Wet footwells - why??

A wet classic. Welcome to the club! I took the front carpet and sound insulation out before the winter as I have exactly the same issue.

Front sunroof drain come out on top of the inner wings under the decker panel. If you have a good look you can see the rubber tubes and often a big hole where the water has dripped onto to it for the last 20 years.
Equally the bulkhead under the decker panel will rust, infact all the front bulkhead will rust! Look for all the grommets that seal the electrics that pass through the bulkhead to. Those go missing.
There is another thread on this on (whisper it) another forum (LR4x4 I think) and someone goes into it quite well.

I bought a thing called Captain somethings leak cure which has helped around the rear screen but as the front is bonded in it shouldn't leak but I put plenty around there too just in case.

This is a job for the summer for me along with a bit of bodywork. In the mean time I just bail it out (its not that bad really) when it rains hard.

Not great though for a car that excels in inclement weather to let most of it in.

Then you haven't quite got the hang of this car washing thing!!

Where do you think its coming from then? There would have to be a big hole in the floor to get the underlay that wet from lying water.

Sadly I'd imagine its more than likely rain.

was also going to say my rubber mats were soaking last weekend just through water splash coming through a small hole in the side panel of passenger foot well

Thanks for sealant recommendation!

DKL - I can't see where the sunroof drainage pipes ends and where there could potentially be a hole letting the water in? Looked both sides, but can't see a pipe or any rust - which seems odd!! :D

Mike,
Open the bonnet and find the welded seem on top of the inner wing - it makes a channel. Follow all the way back to the rear edge of the bonnet and under decker panel.
There should be a half inch ish diameter pipe that appears out of the upper A panel - this is the sunroof pipe.
I'll try and find a pic.

Try this:

old model but the seam is obvious and where you are looking is just out of pic on the left.

Hope that helps

Thanks David - and a pic would be great!

So in the pic below, if I follow the top of the front wing all the way along to where the bonnet meets the slam panel/wing, and then it drops down from there it should be at the bottom of that sloped area?
