P38A Nose weight please?

Morning all. I need to tow a 24' yacht from Looe in Cornwall back "up North". Can anyone advise what the maximum "nose weight" is for my 4.6 Vogue please? The yacht weighs 2.2tonnes. I've had a look on t'internet, but found nowt. Many thanks! Mike.

The maximum is 150kg, but you'll usually want something less than that. I think around 50kg is more normal
I'd expect a boat trailer to be set up correctly for the boat, but you'll have to be careful with anything you place in the boat as added weight to keep the noise weight sane

We call it tongue weight here. And it's 550 lbs. from my reaserch.

550lbs is approx 250kg
The owners handbook states a max of 150kg, which is approx 330lbs
Max isn't ideal

Maximum nose weight is 150 Kg or 330 proper weights. 75 to 80 Kg or 165 to 176 proper weights would be considered balanced.

When towing caravans I always worked on 50kg and never more than75kg. 550lbs does seem very excessive to me.
How you keeping Jon Dor. Hope your health is improving as that's a long drive you've got there

Hard work to get 550 pounds nose weight with a caravan unless it's full of illegal immigrants.

Seen people filling them with booze for cross channel ferries and definitely fun watching some of them trying to drive off the ferry

I'm doing OK thanks, but I managed to hurt my ribs somehow which is very uncomfortable but not stopping me doing stuff. Length of drive doesn't phase me. I used to average 76k annually when I ran my own business. Also lived in Cornwall then...beautiful place to live, STUPID place to run my business from! I'm trying to find one of the purpose-built trailers sat doing nothing...preferably "up North" thus keeping fuel costs down when returning it ¦~] After discussing with the owner last week, the tri-axle17' trailer I hired last week can be modified fairly straightforwardly and can handle the weight.

Great to hear you are fine. My turn next, 2weeks tomorrow go in hospital for a total knee replacement. My GP has got me into a private hospital on the NHS so shouldn't be too bad(fingers crossed)
That's some mileage you used to do. Had loads of holidays in the 60's and 70's in Cornwall fond memories. Went back 2years ago wasn't impressed with some parts anymore

Used to go to St Ives in the early sixties locals were brilliant and so friendly. Went back in mid seventies and every shop owner had a London accent. It had gone to the dogs.

Your replacement knee should completely transform your day to day stuff. The recovery can be quite slow, but well worth the wait!
Two of my ops, the shoulder rotator cuff repair and one of my stomach ops were in private hospitals, paid for by NHS attempting to clear the backlog.
The quality of the post-op coffee and biscuits was outstanding...proper, china coffee pot, cup and even a saucer...and MUCH nicer biscuits!

But yes Max is 150kg, mine was quite happy at 75kg, that was a trailer full of lumber.
