(I should PM this really but perhaps you should all be aware from someone who knows....)

Keep it as simple and as straightforward as you can at this early stage Craig, don't try to run before you can walk ;)
It's a daunting task, you WILL despair at times, you will wonder what the hell is this monster you've unleashed and it will only be as good as the team that is working with you - it will require dedication and commitment and will consume you and your spare time.
You need to plan for almost every scenario you can think of so you can act swiftly in the event of something going wrong, you will need plan Bs, Cs and Ds...
This is your show, do not be afraid to be a hardass and call the shots where necessary because it's your name over the door and it's your name that'll be at the forefront if it all goes tits up, good planning is of paramount importance, tell those attending what you want them to know only, that way you wont be besieged by PMs saying 'I want' all the time.

And get this thread moved into anything goes or the secure unit ffs!! :D

Just some friendly advice buddy :)

Totally agree with Boomers wise words. This needs proper project management. It looks like a runaway train at the moment, with people, with all good intentions going off in all directions with no common guidance. There are also potential participants who are putting their hands in their pockets to fly in, therefore putting extra pressure on you and the rest of the organising team to make it a worthwhile event. You just need to take charge of this situation and manage it in a logical manner. And you definitely need to get it off an open forum. Just to say we will be there to support all your efforts.:clap2:

And have a grand tour of a different area, no disrespect but not much skill, imagination, effort or creativity required for organising p+p days

BOOMER,after our little chat the other night,i have to say yer talking bollox.you know that you and your fellow organisers of the last chippy run,did an enormous amount of recce'ing, plus the amount of money that YOU laid out was a non to inconsiderable amount.I think peeps forget about this. Also i think it would be a nice gesture if the bods who went on the last chippy run might like to send you a donation to try and recover some of your outlay.just my opinion though.:clap2::clap2:

Wouldn't that make it a paid trip?? and the whole thing Spam??

I'm sorry GD but ya idea int a goodun. If Boomer wanted help with costs then he would of asked. are we supposed to pay all the other leaders and those that took part in recce trips??

Boomer is well aware of how happy peeps are and how much they appreciate his hard work and commitment went into this trip. I doubt very much that he wants or expects anymore, from the peeps who went on the trip.

hi red, sorry bud but i have to disagree on this point,he did not advertise it as a pay trip, but you know as good as anyone else that organising these trips does cost a fair amount of money,i am not suggesting that peeps pay him and he makes a profit on the day.but he did this for the benefit of the bods on L/Z,it seems to have been a fantastic time for everyone.i know boomer did not ask for anything in return, but i just thought it would be a nice gesture for the bods who went out to give a little back.nothing more nothing less.i would have said this for whoever had done the same.;)

Tis still a slippery slope to go down Laning trips are either free or peeps pay to be guided. but it needs to be operfectly clear from the off which it is.

Yes Boomer spent loads on Fuel, as did Drewster, Baggy Jim and a fair few others. But the peeps involved did it because they wanted to and not because they expected to be paid for it..

Noooooooooo!
For me personally (and I'm sure the team would share the same sentiments) it wasn't about what it cost to set up, it was about putting on a safe, well planned and structured day out for others to enjoy whilst raising money for a charity.
Sure, the fuel costs and other expenses rack up over time (and yes, the Chippie Run stands me in at around £650) but when I was sat on the wall at West Bay seeing lots of happy faces that was more than enough for me to be satisfied that it was worth all the time and effort.
My only monetary concern was for what was raised for the charity and that opinion still stands :)

grand sentiments boomer, all i was saying was for all the organisers to be given exes not a profit, yes seeing happy faces and a job well done is a huge reward, but it still cost you and the rest of the team a lot of hard earned.like i said, these are just MY thoughts on the matter.;)

When yu set up the just giving Peeps can comment on their donation. If they leave they're username the person setting up page can vie this and keep a list of those that have donated.

Cool thank you....bit of a novice at charity sites....ill get there....ish....grinning.....and slightly confused :D be patient with me :D:D

does BB get paid for the cost of sorting the field out?? I did one recce and I spent a full day strimming the field do we get paid, does 110Woman get the cost of her cake ingredients back. None of us expect it or want it. Neither does Boomer or Drewster et:al.

As I've said not a good idea.. and just leaves peeps open to been slagged off for "just doing it for the money" even though it int true..
