Joe if they are standard LR 16" wheels you shouldnt have a problem fitting your 205/16 tyres to them and steelies are better for laning as they are easier to repair if you damage them. iirc you can get steel wheels for about a tenner each from breakers if your really stuck.

Most remoulds are fine now but personally I would stay away from colways if your ever offered a set. They went out of production a few years back and most of the ones i have seen are pretty badly perished now. The last set I ran started to melt on the edges and driving a 110 i hadnt been driving quickly.

nearly got some colways off ebay but they did look a bit old and then researched company and went bust a while ago so thought that they must be gettin pretty old by now so avoided em...

Guy near me has a set of colway BFG replicas and tread wise they are nearly new but they are perished to hell up close. I didnt realise when I bought mine and they did last a while but as soon as I could I replaced them
 
ah the great remould discussion begins once again..

remoulds got a bad name as wagons used them the most and people would see strips of tread lyin in the side of the road or hanging off a wagon tyre..

and presumed remoulds were bad!!!

this can happen with new tyres..

its caused by gettin a flat and not knowing bout it.. with wagons having twin wheels it was easy to get a flat on an inner tyre and drive round for a long time without realising it..

and the tyre fails, lumps of rubber fly, debri all over the road...

oh it must have been a remould letting go again..

no, its some driver not checkin his tyres regularily.....

got no problem with remoulds and have ran many different types. Was just trying to give a warning about a certain make more than anything.

Have experience of Insa, colway, kingpin and a few more that i cant remember the name of and had no problems other than wearing a little faster than normal tyres but that is easily offset by the price factor (think you can have at least 2 sets of insas for the price of one set of bfg).

For road/off road use then i cant say i have noticed a difference, the biggest difference is the tread pattern (road/at/mt) but thats just common sense. Speed ratings arent really a concern as most lrs dont go over 80mph much anyway thanks to aerodynamics of a brick on a skateboard, noise and fuel consumption ;)

I would happily use retreads again on the lr and on most cars with the exeption of performance since i did try a set of fullrun once on an st220 and had them off within a couple of very scary months :eek:
 
Theirs prob good makes and bad.my mate runs insa turbos.not a prob..they do wear quicker..lrm this mth charlie thorns gota section on remoulds

yeh ive got them on a set of es alloys but they toe in a bit because they are 235/16 and me tyres are 205 so i think that if i got some 205 wheels it will open tread up that bit more if you know what i mean and i can put road tyres back on alloys

a stunning price of 4/11 0n..so 110 quid got ya 40 quid profit..ha ha...a wins a win tho and it was dead cert....bloke in paper started with 8k and over a mth has won 160 k,,,,trying to buy house with winnings ad cash it in now while ahead,he was just backing crazy odds on,think at one stage he bet 100 k to win 8k
