I'm handy with a gasless mig and stick also for trailer repairs etc but not confident enough to fit a new rear x member on my 88" series 3.


anyone know anyone decent in north west Norfolk at all ?

would rather go on recommendation than the yellow pages,

I can not be sure as it is some time since I looked at his web page,but I think Glencoyne is in Norfolk. Try a Google on Glencoyne.

is he good at fabrication ?

I have been recommended FJD engineering and D&C Roberts also

whereabouts? there's quite a few good welders around and some people in local clubs that do it in their spare time.

I'm in Kings Lynn but will travel a few miles if needed
I've asked on Breckland Landrover club Facebook page and have 2 enquiries to make so far.
I'd like to go on word of mouth as people's own experiences usually prove to work

Try Norfolk4x4 page on facebook there's a lot of people in the Lynn area on that one. Join the group and introduce yourself, lots of nice people and plenty of laning/p&p days to get involved in if you want too.

Or if you want an established garage I've heard good things about these guys Church Farm Landrovers: Land Rover Defender Garage providing specialist Defender 90 & 110 services based in King?s Lynn, Norfolk

or a bit further up the road in Docking are
Land Rover Specialists, Norfolk :: Hayward Land Rover

I know those guys are very good....not the cheapest but their work is excellent.

if you look at Norfolk 4x4 page it's me in the banner pic with my red defender

Church farm are good but only take cash/cheque and I need to pay on credit card this month. Not spoken to Hayward's yet so will give them a shout.

I'm looking at the cross members on Paddocks, not sure whether to get cross member, cross member with rails or cross member with spring mounts!

purchased rear cross member with extensions from paddocks for £65...
not bad I thought!

do I have to cut bottom plate totally out as it looks like they will impinge spring hangar bracket?

nope..

I have ordered them separately, I didn't realise the extensions would be so long.

the spring hangers were only £8 each at paddocks so I just ordered 2.

that'll teach me to order before looking in future, would have been worth paying the extra for the longer extensions with spring hanger brackets pre welded!
