Noob type question???

Sounds daft I know but:
you know the vent on the left hand wing top on a 200 tdi Defender, is it supposed to expel air when I've got the heater on full blast?
the air still blows inside the cab and almost demists the windscreen as per usual, but I just thought what a waste of air when it could be used to heat the cab? I don't know.

That's the inlet it should be sucking air in not blowing it out. Though I suppose there could be some turbulance round the vent.

It's a wierd one when I put my hand over the top it definitely blows out quite hard, and if I cover it with my hands you can hear it labouring.

it isn't half full of crud is it?? Try putting a plastic bag over the vent Is it wired properly????

If it's not wired properly, then it has'nt been wired properly since I had it. Cos I've never touched it.
I'll go and have a look now to see if its crudded up.
Is the plastic bag theory to test if its blowing or sucking?

both if it's blowing it'll lift the bag off and if it's sucking it'll drag the bag down onto the vent.

tried the placcy bag trick and it sucked it in, wierd how i could feel it blowing out ,thats a **** load of turbulence.
