Having his keys aparently proved he had an intention to drive his vehicle, i thought he was taking the mick when he told me, but it was genuine. proves what a mad place we all live in.

nah it just goes to show how many crap solicitors there are

Thanks for the info gents - seems I have entered a whole new world of intrigue and nefarious nightime practices.

Good tip on the Disco front - I had been thinking about that too.

Are the rozzers who did the guy for having his keys having a laugh - I know some people who have their house and car keys on the same ring (which is abit daft but.....) - so how do you squar that one ?

Cheers

Craig

Having your car keys on your person whilst drunk is not an offence. There is no such offence as intending to operate a motor vehicle whilst under the influence. The only offence he could have been charged with is drunk in charge of a motor vehicle and for that he would have had to have been observed driving the vehicle or been seen, sat behind the steering wheel of a vehicle with the keys in his possession. Otherwise it would be illegal for any campervan driver to have a drink and then sleep in the vehicle. Also if you are in the back seat or rear of a vehicle you can't be done no matter how drunk you are.
