Noob: 2003 Range Rover - Air Suspension Fault

Greetings Everyone!!

I've been trying to fix my air suspension faults for the past year.

A few months after I purchased my 2003 L322 the front left corner started to sag big time during the winter so I purchased the RSW software and OBDII cable to diagnose the issue. The codes that were coming up were 'articulation validity' and 'front left sensor fault'. So I replaced both front height sensors with an aftermarket brand. After doing so the articulation fault never went away, so a few weeks later I ran the codes again and now I was getting rear left height sensor fault, so I replaced that sensor...again articulation fault never went away....then a few months later I ran the codes again and was getting rear right height sensor fault, so I replaced it with used OEM sensor...

Now for the past couple months I've been only seeing articulation fault and no sensor faults. So I've replaced all 4 height sensors and now I don't know what to do.

I've been reading around the forums that if there is a whooshing sound in any of the bags when you lift or clear the fault then that indicates a torn bag from the inside, this is then only other thing that I've been waiting to try to fix but can't get myself to put up the money for new bags. Also I've read that inspecting the cross link valves would be a good idea for articulation fault.

I would like some input from anyone that's had these issues, please! I need to get this this issues fixed cuz it's driving me crazy driving a car that's got errors flashing on the instrument panel. It's hard fixing an SUV like this here in Armenia, no parts, no service centers and no mechanics...gotta do everything my self... :-(
 
I'm confused, maybe something has been lost in translation. You've been 'waiting to fix' the air bags ' but can't get yourself to put up the money for new bags'. Why on earth not? In the next breath you say having faults is driving you crazy. If something needs fixed, fix it. If it needs a part to fix it, then fix it with a part.
 
Sorry to maybe not convey my concern clearly.

I have a 'articulation validity' fault coming through on my RSW program for the air suspension. What are the likely causes of this? How can I troubleshoot this issue and figure out exactly what's causing it?
 
Articulation fault means something is not where the ECU expected it to be.
Have you calibrated the sensors?
No experience with the l322 but on the p38, new sensors means you have to put it to a known position and then tell the ECU what the readings are then it knows what to aim for.
That said, if your bags are duff it simply isn't going to work and will end up trashing something else.
 
There are already threads, on here, relating to articulation faults with answers from the gurus. Before you start a search for said threads, write down your ride height readings , so you can compare them to the expected norms.
 
Calibration:
Yes, I've calibrated the heights on all 4 corners and the heights are where their supposed to be, but just after I start driving (within 2-3 km) the fault appears back up.
Using the RSW software, I'm able to set the height and measure them by hand, NOT going off the numbers that are in the software (from what I understand the numbers for the height in the software are arbitrary numbers and don't really mean anything). When I rise and lower the truck after calibration the truck comes back to the set heights but the fault still appears after I start driving.

Yes, I've already done the height calibration, the problem that I'm having now is that the fault keeps coming up even after the height calibration.
 
Afraid the best I can do is refer you back to the earlier threads by the gurus. Read through them all, you might find something. It's better than just sitting waiting for one of the gurus to turn up . When they do turn up you can at least say you've tried everything already listed.

I prefer Kopi Luwak or Black Ivory - as I don't consume alcohol.....

I also do not partake in Doritos or cheese and biscuits....I am more of a French Brie and warm Baguette kind of a guy.

Now I will finish my swim in my indoor pool, get changed in one of the 7 bedrooms, and then make my way down to the study for a spot of internetting before I decide to respond....

I love Doritos (Cool flavour prefered) and I do like French Brie and a warm Baguette.

Now I will finish in the bath, get changed in one of the 2 bedrooms, and make my way down to the corner of my living room where the computer is for a spot of porn surfing before I decide to respond....

Ok, well...today I thoroughly went through and performed a complete height calibration from scratch, got my height set to perfect and just after driving off about 100 feet I got flashed again with the same fault.

So the calibration did not help.

Now, I'm looking into replacing the cross-link valves, both front and rear, should I replace these or does anyone have any other suggestions on what I can troubleshoot next?

2003-2005 Range Rover HSE L322 - Articulation Validity Fault << SOLVED!!! >>>

Well, here we go... I just resolved my 'Articulation Validity Fault issue I've been battling for the past 2 years. After the dealer told me to change from airbag assembly's, valve distribution blocks (both) and the compressor I was still getting the articulation validity fault.

I noticed on the dealership diagnostics computer (non-Land Rover device), that the height kept reading 'invalid' once the air suspension filled up all the way and the truck raised itself up from 'low' mode...this made me think to try to lower the set points I had for my heights. I had my heights all set to factory spec, 485mm front and 475mm rear... I lowered my heights to 470 front and 465 rear and BAM!!! Everything now works, no more articulation fault...

I'm really not sure how the factory height tend to be lower now than when the truck was new but this worked...

Anyway, I personally could not find any specific answer to this fault ANYWHERE on the net, just assumptions and guesses...some were very close, others (dealership) were way off.

I really hope this information helps someone with their Rangie!
